Tribute is a really fun song to play, as it is energetic and vibrant. The intro features an interesting riff with consecutive hammer-ons centered around a given chord, so it’ll give you a chance to practice the hammer-on technique while holding down a chord.
After the intro, you’ll learn several chords, some of which you probably won’t be familiar with yet, but that’s good since widening your guitar chord arsenal and practicing switching between chords is always great, as it really advances your knowledge. After you get comfortable with the chords, you’ll be learning about accented strumming, and the effect it has on music.
All in all, the beginner guitar lesson on Tribute is a great tutorial for you to practice your chords and strumming technique with, and you’ll see that once you know the chords, the song will be a lot of fun to play!
Tribute song details
Tribute, also known as The Greatest Song in the World was released on Tenacious D's self-titled debut album, Tenacious-D. It is featured in their comedic movie The Pick of Destiny.
The song is a tribute to the greatest song in the world, since the movie, the band members (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) win a musical duel against the devil by playing the greatest song in the world. Unfortunately, they can’t remember what they played afterward, so they sing in remembrance of the song in Tribute.
